As a Hudson Valley and Catskills native, Malik's work is deeply rooted in the region's rich cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty. His artistic style blends elements of abstract expressionism, impresinism , and Afrofuturism, yielding a unique visual language that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
Malik's academic background in architecture has also significantly influenced his artistic approach. He studied architecture at SUNY Delhi from 2010-2014, developing a strong foundation in design principles, spatial reasoning, and creative problem-solving. This training has enabled him to bring a distinct architectural sensibility to his artwork, and projects often incorporating elements of structure, texture, and geometric form.
Malik's professional career took flight in 2015 with his debut gallery exhibit, "Daydreams & Nightmares," at Roark's Tavern in Monticello, NY. He has since participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions throughout the Catskills, Hudson Valley and New York City, including notable shows at the Basha Kill Vineyards, Element Square, and the Foley Gallery.
In 2023-2024, Malik completed a prestigious three-month artist residency at The Black Library in Monticello, NY, where he expanded his creative horizons through painting, music production, and community engagement. During this period, he also hosted paint-and-sip sessions and open mic nights, fostering a spirit of collaboration and artistic expression.
